1 May 1940, late morning
“Herr Admiral.” Furst sighs and, putting down the reports he is perusing, looks up at his visitor. While he has little patience for politicians and businessmen, Furst knows it is sometime advantageous to have their support. Therefore, he doesn’t dismiss his visitor out of hand.
Seeing he now has the Konteradmiral’s attention, Baron Otto von Rothenberg steps forward. “I would like to host a dinner party for the Heroes of the Fatherland. Our gallant ‘Knights of the Sea.’ Especially those of your officers who’ve earned the Knight’s Cross,” the Baron clarifies. “A number of prominent Party officials will be in attendance. I was hoping you could delay the June patrols a day or two to allow them to attend.” Rothenberg waits. When his proposal isn’t immediately rebuffed he continues. The event will be held the evening of the 31st, at my estate along the shore, Jadeburg. I hope I can count on the Navy’s cooperation.”

My good Baron, As much as I would desire to grace our brave sailors, those that have earned the Knight's Cross, it is not always in the best interest to hold them back. But, while I won't be able to hold them back. What I can do, is give them their briefing on the 30th, and allow them to leave in the evening instead of the morning of the first.

The Baron beams. "Once again I find myself in your debt, Admiral." With that, the Baron takes his leave.
