***** UBOAT SUNK - ALL HANDS LOST ****
KptLt Matthias Kaplan
Crew Status: Trained
4th April 1940; 0930 (Wilhelmshaven) Nice clement weather at Wilhelmshaven as we set out on our third patrol of the war to support our forces around Norway. Spirits are good and i'm hopeful of a successful patrol, i'm determined to return to with multiple pennants.
4th April 1940; 1615 (West of Denmark) Our lookout spotted the plane too late for us to maneuver and the Blenheim bomber dived towards the boat. Flak guns fired off but missed the plane, we took hits on the 3.7cm Flak gun and damage to the dive planes. Thankfully we had time to dive and avoid a further attack. We appear to have resolved issues with the dive planes but will surface to determine issues with the Flak gun
6th April 1940; 0930 (West of Denmark) REPORTS INDICATE U-39, A TYPE IX-A UBOOT, WAS ATTACKED BY AN ENEMY AIRCRAFT AGAIN OFF DANISH COAST ---- NO SIGNS OF SURVIVORS ---- ALL HANDS PRESUMED LOST
(OOC: Horrible luck, two aircraft encounters in the first two transits, on the second encounter i rolled and got two attacks, the first of which was a roll was 11 modified to 13 - ill put in for a new boat. RIP Kaplan)
