Narrative: U-86 leaves La Rochelle on 1 April 1941 en route for the Spanish Coast. She reports narrowly avoiding Aircraft the night of 2 April in the Bay of Biscay and again in the Atlantic the morning of 5 April.
Radio intercept indicates an attack on a freighter (9,900 tons) of the coast of La Coruna the afternoon of the 10th, with a follow-up attack that evening that results in the Freighter’s loss. At the same time, HMS Amazon reports sinking an enemy submarine subsequent to the attack.
There is no further communication from U-86 and she fails to return at the end of her April patrol.
