We will have 1 patrol per week starting on Monday and going until Sunday at midnight your time.
We will use a google doc for tracking tonnage, but you are more than welcome to post any role play that might be taking place on board your sub in the patrol boards. If your ship is down for refit during a mission, then you are welcome to continue the role play Jäger Stammlokal which is the bar our crews can use.
At the start of every patrol, I will post you u-boat's assignment in the patrol board. If there is no ship on patrol for the duration of a month then we will skip that month.
We will be an open ended game, so should your boat be sunk you are welcome to start over with a new boat and a new crew.

[11.3] SPECIAL DECORATION
HISTORICAL COMMENTARY: In practice, awards were distributed more liberally than the game suggests. The following rules improve the awards system.
A commander receives the U-boat War Badge after his second patrol,
and the Iron Cross 2nd and 1st Class after the first and second successful patrols respectively.
The Narvik Shield is awarded for service in Norway between 9 April and 9 June 1940.
After receiving an Iron Cross 1st Class, if a commander serves for a year without receiving a Knight's Cross, and if the date is after Sept. 1941, he receives the German Cross in Gold.
If the player gets the Oakleaves after June 1941 and within a year of getting the Knight's Cross, the Oakleaves come with the U-boat War Badge with Diamonds.
The Wound Badge in Black is awarded for any severe wound. These awards are for historical flavor only.

Is it only the commander who receives the U Boat War Badge, or does that go to the rest of the crew as well? Should I have a 1WO advance to command and subsequently choose to play him, it would be nice to know what awards he already has.

U-BOAT WAR BADGE.(U-Boot Kriegsabzeichen), die struck bronze alloy, 48 x 38 mm, 25.4 gm, heavy fire guilt, unmarked, excellent condition. The U-Boat War Badge was instituted by Großadmiral Erich Raeder on October 13th 1939 for award to all ranks of U-Boat personnel who had served on at least two sorties against the enemy or were wounded in action. So this was available to all crew

I thought I read in one of the patrol reports that someone claimed credit for sinking an American ship. I thought we were supposed to respect the rights of neutrals.

looking into it, American shipping was still stopped and threated of being sunk, because of delivering supplies into the United Kingdom, but no ships were actually sunk until June 1940 www.usmm.org/sunk39-41.html#anchor325668
