Here's a new game that takes place in the Pacific Theater. You take command of a gato class United States fleet submarine.
I thoroughly enjoyed the original Crash Dive, but this game takes things to an entirely different level.
This game is comparable to Silent Hunter IV.
Lots of tactical action. You encounter convoys and unescorted ships. There are several side missions that become available while you are on patrol. There are many that include raiding bases near the shore. I've destroyed plenty of Mercedes supply trucks and seaplanes in such a manner. 😁
Other missions include rescuing escaped POWs, delivering supplies, and attacking ships under refit.
The game features optional resource /crew management. Crew members even have randomly generated names, DOB's and places of birth.
I especially enjoy using the AA guns.
This feature (optionally) utilizes your device's gyroscope.
It gives a real sense of urgency when an aircraft contact is discovered. You physically have to jump up and man the guns! I like to sit in a revolving office chair when I am knocking Jap planes out of the sky.
The AI is quite impressive. If you attack a lone freighter and spend too much time plucking away at it with your deck gun, an aircraft will soon arrive on the scene. Hang around even longer and escorts will appear.
The graphics are fantastic. Visually pleasing to say at the least. Water beads on the periscope are a nice touch.
There's not much to the sound except for a steady hum of your engines and the wind/sea.
Occasionaly, if you get close enough to a target, you will hear alarms going off and flares being launched.
The gunfire sounds great.
There is music that plays during the opening theme and it is decent but I chose to turn the music off in the options menu. It's my preference, I like to run silent when I'm running deep. 🙂
Most players familiar with sub sims can jump right into the action after completing the sea trials ( In game tutorial ).
The tutorial is thorough and fun. Everything is included from the manual.
This game is available on IOS/android/steam platforms. There is a $10 price tag, it is worth every penny in my humble opinion.
