Recap: This concludes the war for the 15th Flotilla. During the months of Sep 1939 to May 1945, the 15th Flotilla operated out of Wilhelmshaven, Germany; St. Nazaire, France; and Bergen, Norway.
A total of 33 U-Boats conducted 199 individual combat patrols, resulting in the sinking of 429 enemy ships with a combined tonnage of almost 2.5 million.
Of the 33 U-Boats assigned to 15th Flotilla, one was replaced by a newer model and three survived the war, though all were in need of repair. The remaining 29 were either lost to enemy action or other causes.
Sixteen 15th Flotilla U-Boat commandants received the Knights Cross, with eleven earing the Oak Leaves, five of them receiving the Swords, and two the Diamonds.
